20 Apr Stay Safe And Inspect Those Artworks

We hope you’re safe. Who would have thought that the phrase, ‘we hope you’re safe’ would be standard greeting? But here we are. We do hope you’re safe in your homes, and our thoughts are with you.

Since you’re stuck at home, this might be a good time to look at your artworks. Not just enjoy them; inspect them.

See if there’s a lot of dust on the paintings. Over time an accumulation of dust will dull the colours of oil and acrylic paintings. It’s possible to clean these paintings and restore their lustre.

See if there are cracks on some of the artworks. Or mould. If the wall the artwork is hanging on is wet, or you’ve stored the artwork in a damp room, there might be an accumulation of mould that will damage the artwork.

It shouldn’t take you too much time to have a careful look at your collection. It will save you the agony of losing the artwork or the expense of extensive restoration work.

If you’re uncertain about what to look for, give us a call and we can help.

Our doors may be closed but our emails and phones (as well as our hearts) are always open to you.

Stay safe
